The Delinquent Teenager – Who Was Mistaken for the World’s Top Climate Expert

Reviewed by Hilary Ostrov, Vancouver, BC, Canada:

One cannot over-estimate the importance of this book in addressing the shortcomings of far too many so-called science journalists (and other media mavens) who have been content to let the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) rest on its self-anointed laurels for far too many years.

Until this book, far too many questions about the IPCC had been unasked – by far too many influential people. Donna has asked these questions, and meticulously researched the answers, which she presents in an eminently readable (and easily verifiable) fashion.
As Prof. Ross McKitrick observed in his pre-publication review: “Donna Laframboise shows that the IPCC’s actual operations bear little resemblance to its public reputation … far from being an open network of top experts it has turned itself into a narrow clique of like-minded activists … [The IPCC’s] reports have come to be more like agenda-driven propaganda than competent, objective scientific assessments.”
A copy of “The Delinquent Teenager …” should be placed on the bookshelf (electronic or otherwise) of every scientist, politician and government functionary who has (unwittingly or not) ever relied on the authority of the IPCC’s assessment reports.

Are pupils, parents and the public being fed political propaganda on climate change? Now is your chance to find out. Professor Plimer gives 101 simple questions with answers for you to ask teachers, activists, journalists and politicians. The climate industry adjusts the temperature record and withholds raw data, computer codes and information from scrutiny. Computer predictions of a scary future don’t agree with measurements. Past natural climate changes have been larger and more rapid than the worst case predictions yet humans adapted.  Is human-induced global warming the biggest financial and scientific scam in history? If it is, we will pay dearly.

The Weather Makers Re-examined

Intoducing a book which challenges Tim Flannery’s “The Weather Makers.”

The Weather Makers Re-examined

Tim Flannery’s best seller under the spotlight of climate change realism byDr Weston Allen.  The book contains 400 pages and 100 illustrations, with more than 300 peer reviewed references, and is well indexed.

The Weather Makers Re-examined is the first comprehensive review and critique of  “The Weather Makers”, the 2005 best seller that propelled Tim Flannery to become the Australian of the Year (2007) and now the Panasonic Climate Change Commissioner for the Gillard Government.

Leading IPCC reviewer, Vincent Gray PhD., calls Dr. Allen’s Re-examined “the most knowledgeable and comprehensive indictment of the global warming bandwagon.”  A former Director in the US Department of Energy, William Happer PhD., tells the author, “The people of the world should collectively thank you, and maybe they will some day.”

Dr. Allen puts every chapter of Tim’ Flannery’s thesis on global warming alarmism under the spotlight of the most up-to-date scientific realism – in climate sensitivity to carbon dioxide, the reliability of the temperature records, sea levels, glaciers, the true state of the Arctic, Antarctic, Greenland, the Great Barrier Reef, extreme weather events, acidification of the oceans, oscillating Atlantic and Pacific currents and much more.

The Weather Makers is shown to contain

  • 23 misinterpretations,
  • 28 contradictory statements,
  • 31 untraceable or suspect sources,
  • 45 failures to reflect uncertainty,
  • 66 over-simplifications or factual errors,
  • 78 exaggerations and over a hundred unsupported dogmatic statements, many of them quite outlandish. (A brilliant Spreadsheet that documents all this available on request.)

Always a scholar and a gentleman, Wes Allen never uses ad hominem arguments, but treats Tim Flannery with courtesy and respect. His predilection for cautious understatement, however, makes for some humorous one-liners. For example, he says that after Flannery has diagnosed his beloved Gaia as suffering from a raging life-threatening fever, “he prescribes the equivalent of a homeopathic remedy.”

Tim Flannery is now leading the charge for a government carbon tax to mitigate runaway global warming, the timing for the publication reviewing the science of The Weather Makers Re-examined could not be better. There are few things more powerful than a quality book whose time has come.    The Weather Makers Re-examined is such a book.

“The Weather-Makers Re-examined” can be purchased for $39.60 (postage paid) from Irenic Publications, 57 Duranbah Road, Duranbah NSW 2487, or ordered directly through the website

Submission to the Joint Select Committee on Australia’s Clean Energy Future Legislation

Dr. D Weston Allen

Dr. D Weston Allen is the author of The Weather Makers Re-examined, which happens to be the first comprehensive review and critique of The Weather Makers, authored by Tim Flannery.

The material in the following submission to the Federal Government committee is largely taken from Dr. Allen’s excellent book – referred to above – which covers almost every aspect of the climate change debate.

Dr. Allen does what every climate change sceptic should do up-front. He concedes where the climate change science is valid. What he then proceeds to do with great clarity is to clearly distinguish between those parts of the science which are valid (i.e., that C02 is a greenhouse gas which has a warming effect) and those parts of the science that remain uncertain

Prime Minister Gillard’s proposed Carbon Tax is based on the uncertain aspects of the science.

Politicians don’t know whether future warming will be beneficial or catastrophic when even the Royal Society says that it does not know how much the world will warm in response to rising CO2 levels. Politicians are not in a position to know whether the mounting evidence from solar studies means that the world may be entering a cooling phase that would be much harder to deal with than global warming. There is no wisdom in trying to fix something with a carbon tax if it does not need fixing. What is more certain than anything else is that an onerous carbon tax will do nothing to improve the environment but could do very much to damage the economy.
