The 4 Big Questions on Climate Change that Julia Gillard Can’t Answer

Episode 23.   Special climate panel discussion with Professor Garth Paltridge, Professor Peter Ridd and Professor Bob Carter.

1. Are humans warming the planet?

2.  Is any warming dangerous?

3.  Is the science settled?

4.  How much will the carbon dioxide tax cut the world’s temperature?

Garth William Paltridge is a retired Australian atmospheric physicist.  He is presently a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University and Emeritus Professor and Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute of Antarctic and Southern Ocean Studies (IASOS), University of Tasmania.

Robert M. “Bob” Carter is an adjunct research professor in the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University in Queensland and the University of Adelaide in South Australia.   He is a geologist specializing in palaeontology, stratigraphy, marine geology, and environmental science.  Professor Carter is a former Director of Australia’s Secretariat for the Ocean Drilling Program and a Co-Chief Scientist for drilling leg 181.  He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Socieity of New Zealand.

Professor Peter Ridd is a Reader in Physics at James Cook University and has extensive experience in environmental research primarily in marine settings including experience designing, manufacturing and using electronic and optical instrumentation for monitoring environmental parameters on coral reefs, mangrove swamps and other environments.Professor Ridd has had a long history of association with environmental organizations including the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland and Sustainable Population Australia.  He believes that some environmental campaigns run by environmental organizations, and some decisions made by Government lack sound scientific backing which potentially leds to misplaced priorities for environmental funding and legislation.

So who do you believe?  The three eminent Professors or Ross Garnaut – the economist?

“So who do you believe? The three eminent Professors or Ross Garnaut – the economist?”

A short response: Frankly, I believe the three professors. What scientific experience does an economist have? Unless he has a double degree in economics & science (and the relevant science at that) I would suggest that he has NONE, whilst the three professors do have the relevant experience, based on their biographies shown on the webpage.

    Thanks.

Prof Garnaut summarises and reports results of climate related research performed by climate scientists recognised by their peers. The science promulgated by the majority of climate scientists has much moore value than beliefs held by those few scientists with contrary views. Consensus science has benefitted us for many many decades. If you, the reader, disagrees with this consensus approach, you should also not trust medical science. Do not accept consensus views for tackling cancer, for example.

Julia can answer, and has often answered, the four questions. With problems of such magnitude, people automatically seek views that minimise the problem. Such actions however do not reduce the magnitude of the ptoblems wevface.

I believe every other scientist, particularly climate scientists, not geologists or physicists. Particularly those who have published, peer-reviewed papers in journals relevant to climate science, not geology, physics or zoology. Economists are excellent at assessing facts, this is part of their training. Clear, concise analysis of information relating to the subject is more relvant then the views of 3 dissenting scientist, who are very much in the minority. Why deny this well established science on the basis of a few dissenters, there are still scientists who deny the HIV-AIDS despite the evidence. So lets look at the balance of evidence – the basis of fact – and we see that the majority are on Garnaut’s side. Prove me wrong!!!!

This is not good to see at all.If he is unable to answer the question who is. He needs to go back and do his research on this. I think this is so important. Tire Shredder

There is so many questions dealing with climate change that need to be answered. A lot of people do not understand it at all. This is why they need to tell the public more about it. actos and cancer

  • [...] times we live in people, and darned inconvenient too if your name is Al Gore, David Cameron, Julia Gillard and many other folk in the public arena who are doing all they can to make money off the scam [...]
