He has been called “the Margaret Thatcher of Central Europe”, a vocal proponent of Friedrich Hayek’s free markets economy, a strident Eurosceptic and the only head of state overtly sceptic of catastrophic climate change. He has said “Environmentalism should belong in the social sciences” along with other “isms” such as communism, feminism, and liberalism. Klaus said that “environmentalism is a religion” and is the author of “Blue Planet in Green Shackles”.
He is Vaclav Klaus, a successful political leader throughout the turbulent post communist era and the current President of the Czech Republic.
Czech President Vaclav Klaus is the guest speaker of the Institute for Public, Australia’s leading free market think tank promoting public policy based on individual liberty, limited government. He talk “Climate Change: the dangerous faith” was given at the Sofitel, Sydney on 25 July 2011. He is introduced by 2GB’s Alan Jones.

very much a consumate leader. did not waste a word and made very good points. saw him on canberra press club address and impressed all.
Tanya Plibersek, the Tokyo Rose of the Federal Government, continues to quote Margaret Thatcher as supporting global warming and a price on carbon. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/sydney-nsw/meet-tanya-plibersek-the-minister-for-doomsday/comments-e6freuzi-1226106986180 It’s a shame Ms Plibersek doesn’t read a copy of Mrs Thatcher’s book Statecraft …. and then retract her statement.
Thankyou ! There is a major point being missed in the anti-carbon tax sound arguments. Please consider this. It is an OXYGEN TAX. For all life on Earth, from humans, all animals,to life in all seas and oceans, depends on OXYGEN to breathe, to survive,to simply exist in the first instance. An election, to settle this interpretation? Seems so.
OXYGEN is only refreshed in the atmosphere by natures’ conversion of carbon-dioxide (CO2) by splitting it into its’ two only atomic elements,C and O2 . Trees do this for us and for all life. Trees keep the C atom to form wood, then breathe out the O2 through their leaves, to permit us this breath of life. As the human and domestic animal populations are expanding in earths’ atmosphere, it follows we need to supply trees with more CO2, not with less.
Conseqently, any tax on CO2(Carbon Tax), is a misleading and deceptive miscall. It is a tax on O2 creation. It is an OXYGEN TAX. It is therefore a tax on the very air that we need to breathe, but what politician would ever dare to name it a BREATHING TAX or OXYGEN TAX ? Instead, mankind should simply be planting more trees, not taxing O2.
